Highlights from July

In the month of July, we've been on a roll, working diligently to unveil the brand new Teen Ranch website (below!). On top of that, we've had the pleasure of taking on some exciting branding projects. For a restaurant, we've crafted an enticing brand identity that captures its unique essence. Our collaboration with an iconic local venue has resulted in a captivating brand that perfectly reflects the magic of the special moments they create. And let's not forget our work with an elevator company, for whom we've designed a bold and innovative brand that will take them to new heights (sorry). We can't wait to share all these amazing projects with you over the coming weeks.

Apple's Forbidden Words

In a recent video, tech expert, Marques Brownlee, reveals an intriguing strategy employed by Apple in their product presentations, particularly with the Apple Vision Pro. Apple purposefully avoids buzzwords like AI and Virtual Reality, opting instead for terms such as "machine learning" and "environments."

This approach serves two purposes: maintaining control over the product's narrative and preventing direct comparisons with other brands.

By using unique names for features, like "ProMotion" for a 120 hertz refresh rate, Apple keeps consumers hooked and free of association with competitors. It's a clever tactic that keeps Apple products, and their brand, in a league of their own.

SOMETHING WE SAW

So long, Twitter. Hello, X.

Content on Launching a new website for Teen Ranch: July Recap

In case you missed it, Twitter went through a rebrand last week, and their new name is...X. CEO, Elon Musk, announced the change in a series of tweets (wonder what we'll call those now!) including, "If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow." The new look ditches the iconic bird logo and blue colour in favour of a crowd-sourced "art deco" X and a black and white colour palette.

The move is just another in a long line of changes since Musk took the helm, including introducing a paid tier for users to gain access to previously free features, such as the blue verified tick.

The rebrand has left us scratching our heads, especially when considering the success of the former Twitter brand. From the wide adoption and redefining of words (tweet and retweet), to the recognisability of the chirp sound that accompanies tweets, the value of the Twitter brand was the stuff companies dream.

Why rebrand at all, then? We think Elon was a little spooked by the success of Instagram's competitor app, Threads which, for the record, did an excellent job on their branding.
