Not for Profit

We partnered with the African Aid Foundation to create a secure, modern website that connects donors with vulnerable communities in Kenya and South Africa. The new platform not only builds trust through transparency but also provides a space to share real stories of hope and impact from children and young people whose lives have been changed through education and care.

The work we did

Project Overview

The African Aid Foundation (AAF) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping children and young people in Africa affected by HIV/AIDS live normal, healthy lives through education, healthcare, and community support.

Challenges

AAF’s previous website was outdated and structured more like an online shop than a charitable organisation. It lacked warmth, clarity, and credibility, making it difficult to inspire trust or encourage donations—especially from younger audiences.

Aims and Goals

The primary goal was to create a trustworthy and professional website that clearly communicated AAF’s mission and gave visitors confidence that 100% of their donation would go directly to those in need. The new site also needed to be secure, easy to update, and capable of showcasing stories and project updates.

Web design and development

Platforms Used

The website was built using Silverstripe CMS, with Stripe integration to securely process online donations.

Special Features and Integrations

  • Custom donation panels allowing donors to select specific giving amounts
  • Easy-to-manage content structure for updates, blogs, and project stories
  • Ongoing support, maintenance and hosting.

Process

Our Approach to the Project

We began with a discovery session, meeting directly with the foundation’s founders to gain an in-depth understanding of their mission, values, and history. This helped ensure the design accurately reflected the authenticity and transparency of their work.

Unique Challenges Faced

AAF had no established branding, so we developed a look and feel that balanced professionalism with warmth—using clean typography, a friendly colour palette, and uplifting imagery to avoid the “sad charity” tone.

Collaboration

We worked closely with the founders throughout the design and development process to ensure their story and message came through clearly and genuinely.

Outcome

  • The final result is a clean, modern, and trustworthy website that effectively communicates AAF’s mission and values. It’s built to be fully customisable, allowing the team to easily add stories, blog posts, and updates about ongoing projects. The integration of a secure donation portal via Stripe provides peace of mind for donors while reinforcing transparency.
  • The new site not only helps AAF tell their story but also strengthens their ability to attract new supporters and share updates from the communities they serve in Kenya and South Africa.

How did we achieve their goals?

    1. Enhanced credibility and trust online

    2. Improved donor confidence through secure payment processing

    3. Greater flexibility for the client to update content and share impact stories
